There are many women who quit their jobs because they feel they won’t be able to do justice to their role as a mother. Working mothers find it difficult to get a leave to take care of their child’s studies, health and other needs. The step of providing 2 years child care leave for working women in Jammu and Kashmir by the Government is sure to encourage women to work.
The law approving the two-year child care leave for working women in Jammu and Kashmir was approved by the Government on 23 July, 2015. The Finance Department sought the approval from the Chief Minister of J&K Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Once the childcare leave was approved, a notification was issued. This notification incorporated in the J&K Civil Services Rules.
About The Childcare Leave
As per this new rule, a working woman can avail a maximum of 730 days of childcare leave in her entire service to take care of her eldest two offsprings. They can avail this leave for any of the reasons like illness of child, education and other needs of the child. The law states that the leave should never coincide with any other type of leave. During the duration of the childcare leave, the woman employee will receive the pay she was entitled to just before taking the leave. In short, the childcare leave may be regarded as an extra paid leave for working women.
The employee can avail the leave only once she has completed her probation period in the firm and has become a permanent employee of the firm. The law may however vary under certain special circumstances where a woman may even receive this leave during the probation period. This child care leave for working women in Jammu and Kashmir will enable them to spend more time with their children and ensure they are receiving proper care.
